I have been trying to pick up another language. It is actually a conscious effort as I am actively
trying to learn one. I wasn't sure which of them to choose.
I love Spanish. Spanish is so sexy. In my opinion, I think it is the sexiest.
Just think about dancing Argentine Tango with your love and whispering some 'te quiero muchos' and the likes into his ears and waiting to hear some 'mi bella dama' yourself. Spanish is just too sweet :)
German on the other hand was quite restrictive for me. Comparing it with Spanish for instance, the number of countries that used Spanish outnumbered those that used German. It is also a great language to learn, but for the fact that everyone I met kept saying it was hard. I met a friend that was learning German for 13 years and said he still wasn't so good. There's no way I'd do that. Would I be learning it till my grey haired days? Mehn scratch that. Another friend said she was quite good, but she started losing the words when she decided to learn English. At a point she could understand almost everything, but couldn't make good sentences herself because the words were interfering with her English and she had slowly and gradually given up the German. I love English so much, I'd definitely choose it over every other.
However, I decided to learn about french language. All the people that I met said it wasn't hard at all. A friend of mine who speaks good (British) English (with the accents and everything btw) made me fall in love with the language with the way he easily switched between the 2 languages. It was so clear that they didn't interfere with each other and I loved that. I thought about how I'd visit all my Francophone neighboring countries and speak French with them instead of English.
But I was still torn between Spanish and French. Then things change when I discovered that... In 1066, William the Conqueror, the Duke of Normandy (part of modern France), invaded and conquered England. He brought with him the French language, which became the lingua franca of the Royal Court, and the business classes. During this time, the English language absorbed many French words and French spellings.

I'm sorry if it comes up a couple of times in my posts, I'm sure my French readers would love to read my French but maybe not every other person, so I'm apologizing before hand :)
I'll be bugging my IG followers with my French learning btw. I need some form of accountability because I've been stalling with it lately. Thought I should let y'all know before time :)
What languages would you love to learn and why?
